News coverage:
Sanford says it’s time for big changes in S.C.
The State, Columbia, SC (Posted on Thu, Jan. 11, 2007) www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/living/16430281.htm
[Excerpts, emphasis added]
‘Saying he’s wiser and more humble than he was four years ago, Gov. Mark Sanford took the oath of office Wednesday on the State House’s south steps at high noon under a striking, cloudless blue sky.’
‘Sanford, 46, sworn in by S.C. Chief Justice Jean Toal…’
‘Sanford told the estimated 2,000 people gathered in white chairs on the Capitol grounds and thousands more watching or listening on radio and television,…’
‘As he did four years ago, Sanford referenced the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and again quoted the Bible’s book of Ecclesiastes. Then, it was the biblical message that “where there is no vision, the people perish.” Wednesday it was Ecclesiastes’ message that, “for everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.”‘
( Note from CCL: It is Proverb 29:18 (not anywhere in the Book of Ecclesiastes) that says: “Where there is no vision, the people perish:…” Considering the failure of SC’s political leaders to perform one of their highest duties as civil ministers, to establish justice, and to prevent the shedding of innocent blood, including politically-calculating Republican Governor, Mark Sanford; and the Republican SC Senate President Pro Tempore, Senator Glenn McConnell (Charleston); and the Republican SC House Speaker, Representative Bobby Harrell, Jr. (Charleston); in light of the horrible slaughter of over 6,500 human beings per year, primarily in South Carolina’s three main abortuaries in Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston (http://www.ldi.org/), it is clear that we as a people are perishing, in a land where there is no vision, but rather great blindness, in our state’s political leaders, and the people who vote to elect them to office. Here in “Bible-belt” South Carolina, we continue to elect “politicians” instead of Christian statesmen. )
[Governor Sanford:]
“Our vision is that South Carolina becomes a state that is second to none in offering economic opportunities to its people. A place where its citizens are better educated, healthier and ready to meet the challenges of the 21st century.”
( Note from CCL: Here above, is Mark Sanford’s vision. What’s missing is a vision of a land of righteousness, and without God-honoring righteousness, such as that which caused God to bless and prosper this land and people for four centuries since 1607, neither will we be able to sustain prosperity, neither economic nor political: )

May Governor Mark Sanford consider this Bible verse as it pertains to SC and America:
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”
Proverb 9:17, KJB

Text of Gov. Mark Sanford’s inaugural speech
The State, Columbia, SC (Posted on Wed, Jan. 10, 2007) www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/living/16427572.htm
[Excerpts, emhasis added]
Prepared text of Gov. Mark Sanford’s second inauguration speech
Jan. 10, 2007, Columbia
Gov. Mark Sanford: ‘Thank you for that warm welcome.’
‘Thank you as well to all the people of South Carolina for the honor of serving our state for the next four years.’
‘While on the subject of thank yous:’
‘I want to thank my Maker. I believe that God brought all of us to this moment. I am humbled in simply being here, and I’m humbled in how important the task of bringing change to our state is for every one of us.’
(continued…)
‘I’m struck by how fundamentally the decisions of today will impact the South Carolina of tomorrow that each one of our children will one day inherit.’
( CCL Note: Yes Governor, and your failure, along with that of the SC Legislature to ban the murder of South Carolina’s children in their mothers’ wombs will continue to increase the judgment of God upon this state and nation in terms of crime, violence (Hosea 4:2), foreign invasion, and war (2 Kings 24:1-4). ALL of these judgments have already begun. Or have you missed the student violence in SC’s government schools, and between gangs, the invasion of our state by illegal aliens from south of our nation’s border, and the deployment and deaths of members of the South Carolina military in war zones ? ). Yes, it is God Who gives peace and prosperity to a land (e.g., Leviticus 26:5,6), when the people in a land obey His commandments. However, here in South Carolina, we refuse to obey His Sixth Commandment forbidding the murder of the innocent: “Thou shalt not kill (murder).” Exodus 20:13 )
[Governor Sanford:]
‘I believe in the inherent dignity of each human soul. Our founding fathers were very deliberate in setting up a republic wherein each person was guaranteed life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’
( CCL Note: Well Governor, then demonstrate that belief by your public support of the Right to Life Act of South Carolina, a bill first filed in 1998, and active every year since, to vest legal personhood at fertilization, thus protecting the right to life of those human souls from being unjustly extinguished by violent acts of child-murder by abortion. )
[Governor Sanford:]
‘Five, we must commit to taking everyone with us on the voyage before us. In the Bible it talks of when you do it to the least of these you do it unto me.’
( CCL Note: Yes Governor, and that includes murdering children by abortion – that also is something we are doing to the least of these, and thus also doing to Jesus Christ. )
[Governor Sanford:]
‘So we must be very deliberate in not only thinking of every South Carolinian as a brother or sister who deserves our respect and careful attention…’
( CCL Note: What about South Carolinians who are in the wombs of their mothers, and not yet born Governor Sanford ? Are we to also give them “our respect and careful attention” ? When are you going to give them more attention using your “bully pulpit” ? Why is it not yet worth an expenditure of your own “political capital” to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, the most defenseless, the most judicially innocent, the murdered unborn in South Carolina ? )
[Governor Sanford:]
‘In his second annual message to Congress in 1862, Abraham Lincoln said:…’
( CCL Note: Governor Sanford, you quoted from President Lincoln’s 1862 second annual message to Congress, but have you read this part of President Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address given on March 4, 1865 ?:
‘ Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said “the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.” ‘ ( www.bartleby.com/124/pres32.html )
Governor Sanford, one of God’s “end-game” judgments upon a people and a land for the shedding of innocent blood is war – read 2 Kings 24:1-4. The War Between Americans (1861-1865) cost over 600,000 American lives, our nation’s costliest war, more than WWII. What will God require of America TODAY, if “every drop of blood drawn with the abortionist’s knife is paid for by another drawn on the field of military conflict” ? We’ve killed close to 50 million by surgical abortion alone (http://www.ldi.org/) in America since the 1973 unconstitutional Roe decision. )
[Governor Sanford:]
‘Two hundred years ago South Carolinians like Rutledge, Lynch, Middleton and Heyward pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to a new form of government, and the question for each one of us is what will we commit.’
( CCL Note: Yes, Governor Sanford, ‘what will [you] commit’ to end the shedding of innocent blood of thousands each year in the state you govern ? Since your first inauguration in 2003, it is estimated that over 26,000 pre-birth children have been butchered on your watch as governor, by surgical abortion alone in the State of South Carolina. The land is polluted with their innocent blood – Numbers 35:33. )
[Governor Sanford:]
‘In our collective hands are the keys to change. I need your help. I need not only the full participation of everyone gathered here today * but more powerfully the participation of citizens across this state.’
( CCL Note: Governor Sanford, we need your help to Establish Justice for pre-birth human beings in South Carolina ! More importantly, the thousands and thousands of pre-birth children who are in danger of being butchered in South Carolina abortuaries, between now and the end of your term of office in January 2011 need your help ! )

Change in CCL’s state-level abortion ban bill reporting standard for 2007:
This year, for 2007 reporting of state-level abortion ban bills, only bills which are 100% personhood / surgical abortion ban / right to life bills, or which have at the most a “life of the mother” exception will even be listed and publicized. In truth, the “life of the mother” bills also fall short, not only of God’s eternal standard of Biblical Truth (Exodus 20:13), but also of US Constitutional standards, violating the Equal Protection clause.
“Exceptions” to a ban on abortion are unconstitutional, as illustrated in the text of the Roe v. Wade decision itself:
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=us&vol=410&invol=113
Over 20% of the States in America had active abortion ban bills of various kinds in the 2005-2006 legislative year, if both 1) bills banning all surgical abortions, as well as 2) bills banning some combination of so-called “exceptions” to a complete ban on child-murder-by-abortion, are counted.
11 State bills in 2005/2006 banning abortions:
– ALA, GA, IND, KY, LA, MO, ND, OH, SC, SD, TENN (over 20% of States in U.S.)www.christianlifeandliberty.net/H3213-S111-121.doc

This year, if there are other states beside: Georgia, Montana, North Dakota, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia, which have filed Abortion Ban bills for the 2007 legislative session, please forward that information, preferably with the bill number and/or the specific URL website address for the bill, or for the state legislature, to:
Columbia Christians for Life CCL@ChristianLifeandLiberty.net
Thank you.

Notes:
1) South Dakota has introduced a bill which includes so-called “exceptions” to a ban on child-murder-by-abortion in cases of rape, incest, “life of the mother”, and the “health” of the mother, and will not be included on this list.
2) Utah has introduced a bill which includes so-called “exceptions” to a ban on child-murder-by-abortion in cases of rape, incest, “to avert a woman’s death”, and “to avert a serious risk of substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function”, and will not be included on this list.

The 1973 Roe decision stated that if legal “personhood” was vested for the unborn, that the pro-abortion argument would then collapse. For almost 34 years now, the pro-life movement has failed to achieve that goal by a state-level, statutory declaration that pre-birth human beings are legal “persons” at fertilization, without exception. As illustrated by the Roe decision itself, “exceptions” to legal personhood are unconstitutional:
Right to Life Act of SC – news conference and “Jesus Christ is Lord of the Gates” pro-life rally – Jan. 17, 2006
www.christianlifeandliberty.net/H3213-S111-1032.doc
In the very text of the Roe v. Wade US supreme Court decision it states, “[Texas] argue[s] that the fetus is a “person” within the language and meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment… If this suggestion of personhood is established, the [pro-abortion] case, of course, collapses, for the fetus’ right to life would then be guaranteed specifically by the [14th] Amendment.” In other words, there never would have been legalized abortion under Roe v. Wade. But tragically, Texas had an “exception” which undermined their entire “personhood” argument. Justice Harry Blackmun wrote: “[ Footnote 54 ] When Texas urges that a fetus is entitled to Fourteenth Amendment protection as a person, it faces a dilemma. Neither in Texas nor in any other State are all abortions prohibited. Despite broad proscription, an exception always exists… But if the fetus is a person who is not to be deprived of life without due process of law, and if the mother’s condition is the sole determinant, does not the Texas exception appear to be out of line with the Amendment’s command? …” http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=us&vol=410&invol=113
The Right to Life Act of SC, in statutorily vesting legal “personhood” at fertilization for ALL human beings, satisifies the Roe formula published 33 years ago. The issue of legal “personhood” for ALL human beings, without exception, is a key to unlocking the 33 year old Roe v. Wade abortion enigma.
